The application site relates to a site known as ‘Land to the west of Mildenhall’.
The West Suffolk Site Allocations Local Plan Policy SA4: Focus of growth ‘Land West of Mildenhall’, identifies ‘the site’ as 97ha in area for mixed use development comprising of the following indicative capacity:
- 1,300 dwellings, 30% affordable.
- 5ha employment minimum.
- Primary School and Early Years.
- 10ha of Suitable Alternative Natural Green Space (SANG).
- Strategic Open Space, Allotments.
- Local Centre.
- Public Services and Leisure Facilities.
Approximately 19.2 hectares of the site allocation has been developed as the Mildenhall Hub, a public service, educational and leisure facility that opened in summer 2021.
